Solar Energy Generating Systems (SEGS) is the largest largest solar energy facility in the world (at the time of this writing) with a combined 354 MW of capacity. The SEGS project is made up of nine projects in three locations; all three locations are within 50 mile of each other in the Mojave Desert of California.

According to a press release dated Dec. 2008, Stirling Energy Systems (SES) has a purchase agreement with Southern California Edison for 500 MW of power. This agreement can be expanded up to 850 MW. SES expects the review process for a recent application (5,000 pages) to take 12 to 18 months for government aproval. By this timetable, the project should break ground in 2010. [...]
